The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself

Senator Sam Brownback(R) of Kansas has always made it a point to during his career to undermine America and the constitution so its no surprise that he has no ethical or legal issue with trying to get a judge to agree to pre-judge on certain cases in advance of hearing the actual case, Senator Removes His Block on Federal Court Nominee

In an interview last week, Mr. Brownback said that he still believed Judge Neff’s behavior raised serious questions about her impartiality and that he was likely to vote against her. But he said he did not realize his proposal — asking a nominee to agree in advance to remove herself from deciding a whole category of cases — was so unusual as to be possibly unprecedented. Legal scholars said it raised constitutional questions of separation of powers for a senator to demand that a judge commit to behavior on the bench in exchange for a vote.

Good old Sam thinks that Judge Neff’s attendance at “a same-sex commitment ceremony for the daughter of her long-time neighbors” is one of the most pressing issues of our time. He has no problem with the Bush administration’s signing statements, treating every single American as a potential terror suspect, or that the president who’s coat tails Sam has clinched rewrote the National Intelligence Estimate to say what he wanted it to say. This Republican presidential hopeful  thinks that attending a same-sex commitment ceremony ranks among the most pressing legal issues of our time.

Biologic Institute = Tobacco Institute

The New Scientist reports that Big Intelligent Design (another name for the Discovery Institute ) has established a research lab that, according to the lab’s senior researcher Douglas Axe will “contribute substantially to the scientific case for intelligent design.” The strategy will be to smuggle a few ambiguous papers into minor peer-reviewed journals, then turn around and use those results to claim that there are “doubts” about Darwinian evolutionary biology.

For personal reasons I happen to be thinking about oncogenes earlier today. Was it particularly intelligent to design cancer into the human genome and further more to make those traits inheritable. Seems like an especially cruel intelligence that would make an eight year old die a painful death. BID can knock itself out they are just going to keep giving evolutionists a greater platform.

Sick demented quote of the day, U.S. Not Winning War in Iraq, Bush Says for 1st Time

As he searches for a new strategy for Iraq, Bush has now adopted the formula advanced by his top military adviser to describe the situation. “We’re not winning, we’re not losing,” Bush said in an interview with The Washington Post. The assessment was a striking reversal for a president who, days before the November elections, declared, “Absolutely, we’re winning.”

A man with such low character really should avoid the arrogance of the royal “we” when referring to those under fire in Iraq. Bush carefully schemed to avoid such a situation thirty-five years ago and he and his loyal henchmen have been using the military like disposable tissue ever since. Some commentary on Iraq and the whole last ditch send more troops scenario here.

A note to right bloggers . So as you’ll read the Jamail Story is not dead or rather it is dead and the right-wing blogs just enjoy dragging the rotting corpse behind their golf carts. Let’s go to the holier-then-holy grail of the all knowing all seeing right-wing blogs to get to the ultimate undeniable truth at Hotair, Jamilgate: Is the AP covering its tracks? posted at 2:32 pm on December 19, 2006 by Allahpundit

Imad al-Hasimi, a Sunni elder in Hurriyah, confirmed Hussein’s account. He told Al-Arabiya television he saw people who were soaked in kerosene, then set afire. Two workers at Kazamiyah Hospital said the bodies were taken to their morgue. They refused to be identified, saying they feared retribution

.

The workers’ testimony only bolsters the AP’s case. Why would Daniszewski have omitted it? If it’s because he no longer felt confident they were telling the truth, why wasn’t a clarification issued? But then, this does seem to be the AP’s M.O. when a fact goes bad on them, like with the four supposedly burned mosques — they don’t retract it, they simply stop mentioning it and hope that people forget about it. Just ask Robert Bateman.

Your honor does the rewriting of a sentence mean that the message conveyed has suddenly been rendered false? NO. Has Hotair(Allahpundit), Flopping Aces, The Jawa Report, Newsbusters, or any other right-wing Republican blog offered up any proof – a single thread – a microdot – a bare sliver of prof that the story about the burning of the Iraqis is not true. NO your honor they have offered no such evidence at all. They have manufactured a case solely out of speculation, rumor, and innuendo. So much for integrity and honor, values that continue to be the first casualties in the Right’s war on empirical rational knowledge and American values. They see that as A-OK because in the Right’s war to control the narrative ala-Big Brother, killing off integrity and honor are simply the price to be paid for victory. What will fill the void when they have accplomished their goal of killing off the whole concept of justified knowledge. This one incident in Iraq while important is minuscule compared to the lies and cover-ups of the administration to which the wing-nutty blogs have sworn allegiance and which have caused too much grief for so many innocents.

‘Do not imagine that you will save yourself, Winston, however completely you surrender to us. No one who has once gone astray is ever spared. And even if we chose to let you live out the natural term of your life, still you would never escape from us. What happens to you here is for ever. Understand that in advance. We shall crush you down to the point from which there is no coming back. Things will happen to you from which you could not recover, if you lived a thousand years. Never again will you be capable of ordinary human feeling. Everything will be dead inside you. Never again will you be capable of love, or friendship, or joy of living, or laughter, or curiosity, or courage, or integrity. You will be hollow. We shall squeeze you empty, and then we shall fill you with ourselves.’ George Orwell – 1984 – Chapter 2
