Right-wingers are shocked that a middle-class family should have a difficult time paying for health insurance for their kids. At my count at least twenty of the top right-wing blogs are shrilly loud and proud that they are so incredibly out of touch with the cost of health-care in America. Its as if we’ve had one giant unified admission from the Right that they are lunkheads and damn proud to be one.
Riddle: When are Conservatives not right-wing swaggering tough talking wannabe heroes? When they’re the poor victims of those mean liberals who repeat what they say word for word. Jonah Goldberg listens to Limbaugh’s remark and what do ya know declares poor old Rush an innocent victim. He reads the O’Reilly remarks about his dangerous journey into the heart of Harlem and swears the kind hearted bigot got a raw deal – Jonah hearts Limbaugh.
Obama Criticizes Private Iraq Guards
White House hopeful Barack Obama on Saturday said private security contractors in Iraq are raising the risk for U.S. troops because Iraqis don’t distinguish between the forces.
He also criticized the pay disparity between soldiers and private contractors, saying the contractors get paid nine times as much as those in uniform.
“You’ve got young men and women signing up to serve, willing to spill blood for America. How could they be treated less well than private contractors?” Obama told a crowd of more than 1,400 at a high school gymnasium in this early voting state.
Since the Iraqis don’t make a distinction between Blackwater and the Marines or regular Army whatever reckless behavior Blackwater engages in reflects on the troops and makes it more difficult to win over hearts and minds. The Bushies grand concept of privatizing war so their political cronies in the private mercenary business has contributed to Iraq’s instability, given the militants some propaganda to use in their recruiting and probably gotten more then a few America soldiers killed as a result. Yet today and everyday the Right will swear that that those damn liberals hate the military. One rule that the Right lives by is they never have to square the reality with the little narrative that runs through their heads.
A popular government without popular information or the means of acquiring it, is but a prologue to a farce, or a tragedy, or perhaps both. ~ James Madison
